This has gotten to the point where most people rarely experience the real world anymore, instead living their days out in the virtual. People started suddenly disappearing from the virtual world when they were perfectly healthy. At first people wondered if it was an issue with some of the hardware quality not being up to spec, but soon it was realized that their real bodies had started going feral. And that they had started living their own lives outside of the virtual world. Once this was discovered, people tried to regain the use of their bodies, but most were unsuccessful. And the disappearances continued as the real bodies were fighting and killing each other.

The tavern was a seedy place called the thieves den. the worst of the realm had a habit for hanging here. but if you were ballsy enough, or dark enough, it could still be safe. mostly.
Sitting in the back close to the fire, but out of the way was a single man who had a table all to himself and an open view of the door. It was this man that was the contact for the guild that they had come to see.
